2 Simple Things You Can Do to Stay Fit and Healthy for Life
66Staying Fit & Healthy is Simple
Introduction
To stay fit and healthy for life, you need only do two simple things: Choose an exercise that gives you both cardiovascular and partial anaerobic benefits. Also, you need to choose an exercise that gives you the rest of the anaerobic exercise that your body needs to be complete.
Kill two birds with one stone
When you think about running or biking or dancing or climbing, you think of them as aerobic exercises only. However, that is not actually the case. They are, in truth, both aerobic and anaerobic exercises. They take care of both your cardiovascular system and the muscles. They take care of your cardiovascular system by strengthening both your heart and your lungs. Not only that, they improve your oxygen capacity and your blood flow. On the other side, they also strength your muscles, namely, the muscles in your legs and thighs. Have you ever looked at a runner's, biker's, dancer's, or climber's legs? Are they not muscular? Sure, they are. So, yes, running, biking, dancing and climbing are also an anaerobic exercise as well. That being the case, we are able to kill two birds with one stone. Ouch! We have strengthened both our cardiovascular system, and we have also strengthened the muscles of our lower body. However, that is not good enough. We have not strengthened the muscles of our upper body, namely, the shoulders, arms, abs, and back. What can we do to strengthen them?
Do push ups
We can do push ups. Push ups takes care of our entire upper body--the back, the shoulders, the chest, the abs, and the arms. I have been doing push ups for more than a couple of years nearly every single day. I had gone from doing, say, 20 to 25 push ups a day a few years ago to doing over 100 push ups a day, not counting the reps I do after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mind you, my arms, shoulders, biceps, and forearms are noticeably much bigger than before. Since I like the lean and mean, natural look, I decided to do no more than 100 a day. I felt that I was getting much larger than I wanted to be. But back to my point: To strengthen your upper body, all you have to do are push ups. And mind you, you can do push ups just about any time or at any place you want to. One thing more: You always take your equipment with you--your body!
Summary
In summary, you need only do two things to stay fit and healthy for life. You need to find an exercise that provide you with both cardiovascular and partial anaerobic benefits. And second, you need to find a anaerobic exercise--push ups are my choice, of course--that will help you strengthen your upper body.

Love your style--short and sweet and to the point. I agree--the attention span of internet readers is short--hook them and lead them. You've done that--see i'm still reading. Nicely done and thanks for that part about walking and running being both aerobic and anaerobic, 'cos that's about the only exercise i do on a regular basis. Nice work!
Nice hub! Short and sweet and practical for the average person. The only thing that I would add is something for the back - maybe pull-ups or chin-ups or rows if you have access to weights.
Hi Tim,
That's essentially the aim of my hubs: To be short and practical. Another aim of my hub is to have the reader use himself or herself as the equipment. No need to invest in equipment or join a gym and pay a huge gym fee. As to my back, I do a lot of stretches to keep it loose and flexible. Thanks for reading my hub!
Thanks for your interesting hub i rated it useful
